Air/Ground Pursuit Winds Through Lamorinda, Ends With Oakland Crash Friday

Our Flashers know about a circuitous pursuit through Lamorinda earlier this evening, air and ground units pursuing an evasively minded Toyota back through the Caldecott and into Oakland – where the two occupants abandoned the vehicle at 57th and Vicente and fled on foot.

Two juveniles were ultimately taken into custody on various charges after triggering a Flock camera in Orinda earlier in the evening. Police responding to that initial sighting were unable to locate the reported Toyota Corolla until a Moraga police officer spotted the car and fell in behind it, following it as the driver made her way along St. Mary’s Road into downtown Lafayette, driving evasively and ignoring stop signs as she went.

Lamorinda police were assisted by helicopters from the California Highway Patrol and Contra Costa County Sheriff after ground units briefly lost sight of the car, airborne observers re-acquiring the vehicle as it threaded its way out westbound Highway 24, through the Caldecott and into Oakland.

Officers from Moraga, Oakland, and the CHP arrived to take the pair into custody and search the car.
