Early Morning Lafayette Crash Draws Police Saturday
A young woman lost control of her vehicle, apparently hit a light pole and rolled the car onto its roof on eastbound Highway 24 at Oak Hill in Lafayette early Saturday.
The crash (aka a “Full Turtle” in News24/680 parlance) was reported shortly before 3:30a.m.
First responders were met by the driver as she made her way out of the wreckage of her car and ran a short distance away before she was detained by police. There was no immediate word if inattention or drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.
The driver was not believed to have suffered significant injury as a result of the crash.

So many crashes on that stretch of highway. It would seem there’s some type of contributing factor.
Slept through this one!
So she was running away from police that came to help her? That’s strange. Also indicting. Good thing she didn’t take another car out with her. That could have been fatal. She needs jail time.
Could be argued either way, we think, with some thinking she was attempting to flee and others that she was attempting to reach rescuers who were arriving at that time. Unknown if there was anything happening requiring jail time as we weren’t allowed to search the car or administer a BA test…
…nor the dreaded HGN-horizontal gaze nystagmus assessment.
Glad to know others were not injured.
Exactly right! Pupils ping ponging off each other like a short-circuiting Pong game!
Lot of inside chatter here. It’s interesting, but I’m not getting all of it!
Trying to make it home after a night in the city???
