Simon and Garfunkel might be pleased to see life following art as the repopulation of the California condor continues with a scouting squadron of the great birds conducting a recent fly-by of Mount Diablo – a flight that sent ornithologists into a frenzy.
California condors 692 and 726 were part of the flight of the great birds that flew north from San Benito County to the northern Diablo Range in early September. Condor 692 flew the closest to Mount Diablo — passing a mile or two west of the summit.
Scientists, bird watchers and critter lovers marked the occasion and expressed hope that the birds may one day claim the Diablo Range as their habitat and become a permanent fixture in our part of the California sky.
I’d rather be a forest than a street
Yes I would
If I could
I surely would
It’s a fave of ours!
Magnificent birds I have been lucky to see in the wild a few times…..
We hope to be as lucky someday!
I’m ready for my close up, Mr. DeMille.
