What Song Are You?

Okay, a little out there for some of you maybe this morning but the grizzled vets among you know music plays a large role in our lives and time with you has proven it does for you, too.

As we do most Friday mornings around the News Bunker we turned up the dbs on our Go-To Play List to gear up for the weekend and it started us thinking – always a dangerous thing – but thinking if there was one song, just one, that summed us up, what would it be?

Kinks? Bowie? Who? Janis? Joan? Which one, which one song, does it for you? Gets your blood up, gets your hips swaying, fists pumping, air guitar windmilling – or shuts you down and makes you think, or cry.

We think we know a few possible contenders for some members of the readership, we’ll see if they match expectations. For those of you who don’t want to play, no problem – no huhu, brah, carry on. Or maybe Ramble On, or Dream On… or…

This one does it for us.

      • It’s a call to remember to “Let it go” when you can if you can every time you can.
In the end, one of the song writers, Chester Bennington, was unable to let it go and so he went. Very sad.
For me it’s a song of release. Crank it up and sing thru it. Actually I put on the album and listen/sing thru the whole thing when I’m in the mood.

  1. Fun post. I have to go with, “War” by Bob Marley and the Wailers. Better choice than when I was asked during an interview in college, “what would your theme song be”? All I could think of was “Brick House”, because it was playing on the ride over.

  2. I Gotta Try by Michael McDonald (co-written with Kenny Loggins)
One has to deal with life on a daily basis, vicissitudes and all. Onward !

  3. BTO – Takin’ Care of Business
And if your train’s on time, you can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed, look at me I’m self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day!

  4. Of course my other song is:

    Knockin On Heavens Door….Dylan

Lord take this badge off of me…I can’t use it anymore…..

    Firestone 11R

    • Oh yeah! Going to the traditional! And we like that…

I’m afraid He’ll have to go.
      His magnets ruin my radio…

      • Mushy Peas. One of the memory elements of the Montreal Cognitive Assessments for Presidential Competence. It comes right after horse, dog, sled, horse, dog, and ex-wife. I scored 100 myself… out of a possible 800.

  5. As a life long popular music lover it’s impossible to pick one song for any mood I’m feeling. I still rock an old IPod Classic with well over 5k songs I have with me constantly. Mainly songs from late 60’s thru early 90’s -Rock, Alternative, Modern, Metal, Pop and some R&B

    • We get you. Same for us. Just checking to see if there’s one song that sums it all up for you… keep rocking!

  6. Temporary home

The last part always makes me cry, no matter how many times I listen to this song, Takes me right back to when my mom was in the last stages before she died.
