A Walnut Creek man has been arrested and charged with the attempted kidnapping of a child at the city library on North Broadway – along with two counts of lewd acts upon a child.

Marc Simon, 27, described as a transient from Walnut Creek, was arrested April 16 in connection with a kidnap attempt at the library on April 11.

The case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office and charges were brought against Simon, who remains in custody at the County Jail with a bail set at $2,000,000. Simon was additionally charged with possession of more than 600 images of child pornography.

Although the police department does not suspect there to be additional victims, they released a photo of the suspect asking the public to call if they have been victimized by him.

    • Again, with the (pre-crime) crystal ball and the pre-judicial assessment of the outcome and the appropriate punishment. Why not just beat him to death at the time of arrest? We don’t impromptu hang people from tall oak trees anymore.

  1. A transient, to me, is someone without a home or computer to house a collection of over 600 images. If possessing a phone with those images, perhaps acquired while using the free county library wifi and chargers is the case, it looks pretty hard to explain. Not saying he doesn’t deserve due process, but I wouldn’t be excited to be his public defender.
