The threads of many of the stories we chase are interwoven – and sometimes unravel in mysterious ways.

Take the case of Corey Hill, a 19-year-old Antioch resident wanted by police there as a suspect in the January 17 killing of liquor store employee Emani Flenoid, 25, of Pittsburg, after a dispute between the two men erupted in gunfire.

On Feb. 8, Hill returned to the 24/680 as a passenger riding with a young woman suspected of an Orinda carjacking – minutes after Lamorinda police and others pursued the Mercedes she allegedly commandeered at gunpoint into Oakland, and back again.

Patience Washington, 18, was arrested on suspicion of carjacking, display of firearm, and a half-dozen other charges at the end of a chaotic night. Jail records at the time of arrest showed she was being held on $370,000 bail.

Officers determined that Hill was wanted in Antioch and detectives investigating Emani Flenoid’s murder at The Spot Liquor Store in their city took him into custody. Hill was booked for felony evading and probation violation for the Orinda exploits, and an outstanding arrest warrant was posted for murder.

Today, Wednesday, Antioch detectives presented the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, and Hill was charged with murder and enhancements for using a firearm in connection with the Flenoid murder. He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility pending arraignment and his bail was set at two million dollars.

Detectives asked anyone with further information on the case to contact Detective Cox at (925) 481-8147 or email: jcox@antiochca.gov. You may also text an anonymous tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword ANTIOCH.

  1. Yeah, that’s a money bag on his right tat. He wants Lamorinda’s money. Now he can get some teardrop tats for his years in prison.
