Reports of a man assaulting Iron Horse Regional Trail users near Ygnacio Valley Road brought squads of police on the run and ended with the deployment of non-lethal munitions and the arrest of a man in his 20s witnesses accused of attacking them with rocks Monday.

Witnesses began calling police for assistance from the trail at about 6 p.m., reporting a man acting aggressively and pelting passersby with rocks. It was not immediately known if any trail users were injured or how badly during the incident.

Officers located a young man answering the assailant’s description and took him into custody after striking him with a non-lethal munition. He was turned over to East Bay Regional Park District police for processing. His identity and what, if any, charges await him were not immediately known.

Person’s comment reminds me of that old joke about the two psychologists that see a man unconscious and bleeding on the sidewalk and one of them says to the other “the person that did this really needs help”
