Hit And Run Crash Causes Traffic Logjam In Orinda Wednesday

A morning crash on Camino Pablo in Orinda triggered a traffic backup and California Highway Patrol investigation as additional information on the incident came to light.

First reports of a vehicle collision possibly involving a motorcyclist first reached this site at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday with police searching to located the precise location of the collision and eventually determining that a hit and run driver was involved.

Police were reportedly looking for a late-model blue Honda 4-door with major damage in the area, eventually locating a car matching that description on eastbound Highway 24 at the Saint Stephens onramp. Both the car and a possible driver were taken into police custody after still another crash on the freeway but police have released no information about the crash or possible injuries suffered.

Camino Pablo remained closed from Santa Maria to Camino Sobrante for most of the morning as police investigated the crash.
