Rotten Eggs? Sulphur? Methane? Residents Ask: “What’s That Smell?”

Well, no, it’s not as bad as it must have been living next to those steel and pulp mills back in the Way Back When but, whew, the locals are barking about a complex mix of aromas wafting through the 24/680 in recent days and we’ll confess – we don’t know what it is, though we’ve expounded on our suspicions.

No one else appears to know what it is, either, but that hasn’t stopped the Flash inquiries and “Where the hell is that smell coming from? posts of late.

For the record, we’re going with: Leaves, debris, and other detritus dumped into our culverts and sewers, dampened by recent rains and moldering into methane…
