Overseas Phone Threat Leads To Lockdown At Alhambra High In Martinez Wednesday

Reports of a lockdown condition at Alhambra High School in Martinez were substantiated by police reports of a phone threat to the campus as officers searched for someone reportedly armed with weapons and explosives.

The anonymous threats were received at approximately 8:58am and were made via a virtual private network originating from an overseas source, according to police.

The school’s lockdown protocol was activated and in place until Martinez, Pleasant Hill and Contra Costa County Sheriff’s deputies responded – ultimately clearing the campus and determining there was no threat.

The Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation into the threats and has contacted the FBI. It was determined the anonymous messages came via a virtual private network originating from an overseas source.
