Storm Drain Deterioration Closes Off Center Street Access To Rheem Center

"Chuck The Sinkhole," aka "The Great Depression."

The Center Street driveway connecting the Rheem Shopping Center to the traffic signal at Rheem Boulevard will be temporarily closed to all vehicles. Deterioration was recently discovered in the storm drain beneath the driveway, raising concerns about the safety of the roadway above. The driveway and storm drain are on private property owned by U.S. Realty Partners. This also affects the access from Park Street to Center Street (in front of Nations and Subway), which will be closed.

The property owners are working on a plan to make repairs and reopen the area. However, the area will remain fully closed to traffic until repairs are completed and/or if it is determined that some areas can be safely reopened. Please follow the posted signs and barricades. During the closure, the businesses in the Rheem Center are open and the parking area can be accessed via the Moraga Road driveways.
