A three-man crew of thieves struck the Lafayette CVS location in the 3600 block of Mount Diablo Boulevard Tuesday, apparently making access to an area where cash is stored and making off with a sizable amount of money.
The robbery was reported at approximately 4:23 p.m., with onlookers reporting a commotion and two men running from the business with items in hand. It was later determined that the men, both masked and wearing hoodies, had escaped with cash – running to a waiting vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing the men leave in an older model silver Cadillac with some damage to the hood but that information could not be immediately confirmed and other details and descriptions were shaky.
Later in the day, police said they were able to identify the suspect vehicle (the type of vehicle was not noted.) San Francisco police located and stopped the vehicle with local officers responding to take it and the driver into their custody for processing.
Why not, no prosecution in CoCo.

Was the cash locked up? Why was there a sizable amount of money? Take it to the bank.
Yes Jennifer, it is ALWAYS locked up! (upstairs behind a locked door in this particular store) #2, Its a store! #3 They do, (duh) with an armored car company.
(I know this as an insider to Longs Drugs/CVS since 1990 and have been in over 100 stores per year)
If the money is kept in a secure place, thieves shouldn’t have access. Most people pay by debit or with credit card, so there shouldn’t be a “sizable amount of money” at the store if the money is picked up often enough.
If, shouldn’t, shouldn’t, if…..your expertise is beyond quantification!
Since you are so astute at retail security, who’s paying you a 6-7 fig salary in asset protection?
All the markets that are routinely held up at gunpoint would love to have your expertise!
News flash Jennifer; a gun to the head gets access to ANY “secure place”.
Note to RRC and Jennifer:
Spirited comment thread here with some salient points. For the record, we have no firsthand information from any source that a weapon was used/brandished in this theft.

Apparently, you don’t need to be an “expert” to make up details in your mind that aren’t in the news story, like a “gun”.
On it as usual. Best news resource in the Bay Area.
Thanks for the Flash alert – this is happening way to much.
You bet, thanks for Flashing!
Clearly someone told them where to find the cash!
Glad no one was hurt
