Man Stabbed To Death In Martinez Thursday; Suspect Sought

At approximately 5:09pm Thursday the Martinez Police Department received numerous emergency calls reporting a man believed to have been stabbed and down in front of a residence on Francis Court in Martinez.

Responding officers located a victim, subsequently identified as Todd Stewart, 68, on the ground with apparent stab wounds. Fire and medical personnel responded but Stewart was declared deceased at the scene, police said.

Martinez police detectives responded to the scene along with crime scene investigators from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

They determined the suspect fled the scene in a Cadillac SUV (pictured below).
