Firefighters battled a stubborn fire at the historic Kaiser Estate in Lafayette Saturday, the blaze partially collapsing sections of the roof and damaging infrastructure on the 50s-era property.

The fire at 940 Reliez Station Lane was reported at 4:56pm and drew a small army of firefighters to the scene. Access to the 7-acre property proved difficult for apparatus with crews approaching the fire from different directions. The origin of the blaze was not immediately determined and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Temperatures in the area hovered in the mid-80s, a factor which did affect firefighters at the scene.
