So, How’d YOUR Night Go?

Can’t find the car. Mild case of hypothermia. Mysterious new tattoo – all in all a successful evening as we bid a not-so-fond farewell to 2018 and wiped the slate clean in preparation for the New Year.

The rest of you seemed to have made it through okay with some minor scuffles and boozy hiccups around the 24/680 (Moraga, Danville, and Walnut Creek acted up a little) but for the most part we seemed to have made it through unscathed.

Things went well enough for us until Adam insisted on dancing the muiñeira at the neighborhood tapas bar and things started to go downhill from there. Someone called 5-0 and the rest of the crew put up a fierce resistance that lasted all of, hmm, about 20 seconds before we found overnight accommodation at the Greybar Hotel – the bulls shaking their heads and muttering “damn reporters.”

So long 2018… hellooo 2019. Things can only go up from here.

  1. “Be polite. Say goodnight. You should be in bed by 10:00.” —Advice I’ve tried to live by and accomplished last night. Went to bed in one year. Woke up in another.

  2. Feliz 2019! No hypothermia or car to lose out here on the Galápagos Islands! We prefer to ring in a new year from some hard-to-get-to place. Will be back in Orinda in time for school’s start on Monday, unfortunately! It’s been nice being away from the USA…

    • Wow, when you guys “get away,” you really get away. What a great place to vacation and what a great experience for the kids. Any pictures you can share would be viewed – enviously – by your chilled neighbors. Check in when you get back and travel safely…
