Burning Rooftop Bush Draws Firefighters In Walnut Creek Monday

Reports of smoke wafting off the rooftop of the four-story Vaya apartments at 1800 Lacassie in Walnut Creek brought firefighters on the double and up to the roof – where they found the smoldering remnants of a bush that had apparently caught fire.

Neighbors reported seeing a column of smoke rising from a decorative planter. One person reportedly emptied a fire extinguisher on the flames with crews reporting the fire largely out when they arrived.

People on the roof at the time the blaze was reported – shortly after 8pm – were reportedly interviewed by fire investigators but it was not known what, if anything, was determined as to a possible cause.
