Multi-Car Crash Paralyzes Eastbound Hwy 24 In Lafayette Wednesday
Three people were believed injured in a multi-car crash on eastbound Highway 24 west of Oak Hill Wednesday night.
The crash was reported just before 9pm with as many as five cars making contact after a white sedan allegedly drove recklessly through traffic, prompting drivers to take evasive action.
Initial reports that a person had been ejected in the crash could not immediately be verified. Several people did stop to render assistance as the CHP promptly closed all eastbound lanes and traffic began to stack up past Lafayette and into Orinda.
The severity of injuries could not be determined as of this writing, though three people were believed transported to local hospitals.

That really is a great photo. Did the photographer hike up the hillside?
We were returning from SF to WC and as we approached Children’s Hospital curve heading east bound on 24, the white car came up from behind us speeding & driving CRAZY. Said to ourselves, they’re going to kill someone. Continued east through the tunnel and several minutes later hit a small patch of traffic approaching Oak Hill Rd exit.
It was a couple minutes before 9pm.
What we saw was the white car crumpled on the side of the road, multiple cars in the roadway and on the side of the road. People standing around and as we passed, there was a girl lying in the middle of the road, hand/arm up holding her head, bloodied face, looking like she was in pain. She must’ve been ejected to be where she was.
We called 911 to let them know about the white car’s reckless driving minutes before, & prayed for the poor girl.
So sad. All because of that JERK!
(PS for those saying I should not have looked-it was unavoidable & did not impact my driver’s speed as we passed. It must’ve just happened)
I really hope everyone is ok. And I hope the driver of the white car pays for what they did.
I saw the male driver of the white mustang sprawled face down in the middle lane. Looks like he got ejected when he rear ended a suv.
It makes me so sick to see innocent people hurt because of one reckless person. Hope everyone survives and heals fast. I have seen so many angry and aggressive drivers on the highways and surface roads. What is wrong with people?! Change your life if you are that angry and crazy. Don’t take it out on others.
I was there. He almost hit me weaving in and out of cars. My car alarms were going crazy. I passed the accident a minute after it happened. I saw a man in the middle of the road. I have a picture of the mustang on the side of the road totaled.
I was in shock the rest of my drive.
CRAZY and major story, yet not a peep about it other than here.
Very sad/maddening all around; this has become a regular occurrence, yet it does not receive the attention that it deserves.

Howdy, Jim… as old-timey-type scribblers who cut our teeth on scoops and deadlines we’ll say we’re happy to carry newsworthy incidents no one else has, and folks who follow us know we do it quite a bit.
As for your observation that stories of this type don’t get the attention they deserve we would agree, but our attention remains fixed on our radar screens and we’ll just keep covering the news as we spot it and let others do what they will.
