Pursuit/Crash On Highway 4 In Concord Halts Traffic Saturday
A police pursuit on Highway 4 ended when the suspect vehicle steered west in the eastbound direction of the freeway – colliding with another car, prompting a brief foot chase and turning the stretch of highway west of Willow Pass into a parking lot.
The crash was reported at approximately 6:10 p.m. after police air and ground units searching for two people suspected in a possible assault on a police officer watched as the car went the wrong way on the freeway in an apparent effort to elude pursuers.
The suspect car crashed into another, two occupants attempting to flee on foot. Both were detained by police.
At least three ambulances were called to the scene as traffic began to mass behind the crash site though the exact nature of injuries was not immediately known.
