A woman was punched and her bag snatched by a teen who ran up behind her outside the Broadway Plaza parking garage at 715 S. Broadway Sunday – witnesses reacting quickly to recover the bag though the juvenile suspect was able to get away.

The shopper was making her way back to her car when the attack occurred, the juvenile punching her without warning and taking her bag. Police are investigating the possibility that the victim was followed from another store before the assault was made.

Bystanders were able to recover the handbag and tend to the victim, who declined medical attention. The assault was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male juvenile, approximately 18 years, wearing a black hoodie with white lettering on the sleeves and blue jeans. He was last seen fleeing the area on foot.

If caught: Corporal punishment. Couple of whacks with a belt across a bare back the first time. Cat o 9 tales a couple of whacks on subsequent occasions. Should be a deterrent in the future. Nobody is killed or harmed for life… but it will be a not forgotten message..
