A woman was struck and killed by a train at the Martinez Amtrak station Wednesday evening – the second incident involving a pedestrian at the train depot this month.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:44p.m. Wednesday. Details of the moments leading up to the collision were not immediately available and police were reportedly on scene and looking for witnesses.
The victim was subsequently identified by Coroner’s officials as Christina Carpenter, 45, of San Francisco.
The involved train was de-powered and cordoned off as officials mounted their investigation. Wednesday’s collision follows an earlier incident in which a man was struck and severely injured in roughly the same location May 14.
Accidental or something else in play?
My guess would be the latter. To get hit by the train you’d have to cross under the guard rails, and who would do that when the train is coming.
What guard rails???
The ones that come down when a train is crossing. Have you ever seen a train track? Unbelievable.
Crossing arms or gates is what they are referred to. Not guard rails.
What’s unbelievable ? It’s a train station people walk up to trains and get on and off . No guard rails just train tracks .
Pedestrians can walk across the tracks. There are no barriers to prevent this. It wasn’t a car driving thru the crossing arm.
I loved her
Does anyone know who it was that was killed? I’ve been trying to find out for a couple days but can’t find any info anywhere!
Christina Carpenter of San Francisco. Such a tragedy. Wonder how that could’ve happened…
