A carload of people traveling near Dougherty Valley High School in a Tesla Model 3 was allegedly fired on from the occupants of one of two cars reportedly following the vehicle from a nearby grocery store.

Police found the victim’s vehicle stopped in the 3600 block of Sandalford Way. One occupant was treated for a minor hand wound.

Police are reportedly looking for a black Hyundai 4-door driven by a black male with two black female passengers aboard. Initial indications are that the Hyundai was one of two cars which began following the Model 3 – eventually pulling up and firing at least one shot at the car.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m.

Bollinger Canyon Road was closed near Dougherty Valley School while police processed evidence and canvassed the area in search of surveillance video.

We received the following release at around 4:20 p.m. Thursday:

Once they arrived, they quickly determined the shooting occurred on Bollinger Canyon Road just south of Harcourt Way. During the incident, multiple shots were fired from inside one vehicle toward another vehicle, which was occupied by five individuals, as the vehicles drove on Bollinger Canyon Road. One car was struck by bullets multiple times, but fortunately, no significant injuries were sustained by the driver or passengers of this vehicle.

Based on evidence uncovered at the shooting location and via the City of San Ramon camera network, members of the San Ramon Police Department quickly identified the suspect’s vehicle. They continued to investigate this incident throughout the night, and early this morning, members of the San Ramon Police Department’s Investigations Division began covert surveillance on the involved vehicle and the identified suspect’s residence.

At just after 1 p.m., Detectives arrested the suspect responsible for this shooting, a 17-year-old San Ramon resident, for attempted murder. The arrest took place in San Ramon, and the suspect will be booked into the Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall.
