One Hit, Wounded In Freeway Shooting On I680 In Danville Thursday

One person was shot twice during a freeway shooting on northbound Interstate 680 south of Diablo in Danville late Thursday night.

The incident was reported shortly after 10 p.m. with one person suffering gunshot wounds to the side and abdomen. A sizable police response descended on the area and the northbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for several hours to facilitate the search for evidence.

Early information is that the shooting occurred somewhere between Crow Canyon and Sycamore Valley Road with someone in another car opening fire on two people in a black Nissan Rogue, two rounds striking the driver.

The driver’s condition was initially described as “critical,” while the passenger escaped injury. Officers searching the freeway reportedly found several shell casings and the Nissan was struck several times.

At this writing there is no description of the suspect or any associated vehicle used in the shooting.

  1. Any criminal that shoots at a moving vehicle probably wets the bed at night.
    Besides that, it’s an enhancement for sentencing.
