Burglars attempting to steal drugs from a local pharmaceutical services firm were stopped short by police early Friday – touching off a flurry of pursuits as the startled thieves fled in all directions.
The theft from Premier Pharmaceutical Services Inc. on San Ramon Valley Boulevard was underway when police arrived on the scene shortly after 4 a.m., three men suspected of the crime abandoning a quantity of drugs taken from the business and fleeing in all directions.
One was tackled and taken into custody almost immediately, a second reportedly located and detained a short time later as a search for the third suspect was conducted with police dogs. That person is believed to have eluded the police cordon.
Officers apparently caught the suspects in the act, with a quantity of drugs and even whole drug cabinets located outside the pharmacy.
The names of those arrested were not immediately available.
