Police located and arrested a 21-year-old St. Mary’s College student who rammed a parked car containing a woman he had once dated and her companion outside the downtown Starbucks location Sunday, then fired shots into the car – striking the victim in the face and wounding her companion, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Moments later, officers confronted Isaiah Glaze, 21, near the off-campus St. Mary’s College building across from Rheem Center, and requested an ambulance at that location. Glaze appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face.

A weapon was reportedly recovered near where the alleged gunman was located.

Classmates said Glaze is from Sacramento and is attending St. Mary’s, majoring in sports management.

The gunfire broke out around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after Glaze, who had reportedly once dated the victim and who had continued to contact her after their relationship had ended, confronted the woman and a friend as she sat in her car.

It was not immediately known if the second victim, hit in the leg, was specifically targeted or the victim of stray gunfire.

The Concord police department, who supplied a canine team and some person power to what was an ongoing search effort at the time last night, posted this version of their participation to their Facebook page on Monday:

“Last night the Moraga Police Department requested assistance from our K-9 unit following a shooting near downtown Moraga. Two victims were found with gunshot wounds and the armed suspect had fled on foot. Our K9 team arrived on scene and the suspect, who appeared to also have a gunshot wound, surrendered near 24 Hour Fitness. The suspect complied with Officers and our K9 team. A firearm was located a short distance from the suspect. The two victims and the suspect were all transported to hospitals for their injuries.”

Both Glaze and his alleged victim were recovering from gunshot wounds at a local hospital Monday. Neither injury was described as life-threatening.

  1. Well, that’s all kinds of horrifying!

Kudos to 24-680 for their well placed sources — presumably within the first responder community — and prompt, succinct reporting.

Youze was wicked fast with the scoop!

    (… and no Nixile yet)

    • We have nothing that would support that theory, Squid… We are not ruling anything out but at this stage, we just don’t know.

    • Drug deal gone bad is the first thing I think of, but I heard that witnesses said it was some sort of domestic dispute. No idea it that’s true.

  2. If I can’t have you nobody can Syndrome? This is a profound event that will no doubt change the lives of these young people for a lot of years to come. Gun violence is terrifying anywhere. In a place like Moraga, it’s horrific. I’m glad no one was killed in this

    • Nothing says “I love you” like attempted murder.

A web search reveals that Mr. Glaze has a twitter page which has not been taken down. I wonder if he was “following” the victims?
