Moraga Woman Found Drowned Off Pacifica Beach Reported Missing Just Hours Earlier

A 67-year-old Moraga woman whose body was recovered from the surf line off a Pacifica Beach Sunday had been reported missing by friends in Orinda just hours before.

Pacifica police said Chia-Yi Wu was found in the water off Sharp Park Beach at approximately 7:45 p.m. Sunday evening. Rescuers were able to reach and recover her body but she was pronounced dead at the scene despite the initiation of lifesaving measures.

Investigators said the Moraga woman had been staying with friends in Orinda and that police had received a call reporting her missing at 3 p.m.

The exact nature of Wu’s death remains under investigation but was not believed to have been the result of any criminal act.
