Two Dead After I680 Wrong-Way Crash In Concord Monday

A wrong-way driver traveling south in the northbound lanes of I680 in Concord slammed into another car in a devastating crash that killed two people and closed the freeway for hours early Monday.

The crash was reported at approximately 2am south of Willow Pass Road with following traffic diverted onto Highway 242 in order to avoid the scene.

Two other people reportedly injured in the crash were transported to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek where their conditions remain unknown. The freeway was reopened in the northbound direction by 6:19am.
