Cutting Reported At Walnut Creek BART Thursday

Police cordon off an area of Walnut Creek BART after a reported stabbing Thursday.

A little disagreement at Walnut Creek BART this afternoon led to a cutting and a suspect on the run, police bringing in the doggo with tactical sniffer to search for the perp. And, no, we don’t use “perp” and that will be the last time you see us drop it.

This was reported at about 4:10 p.m. and we believe one person was treated for an arm wound but, you know, the transparency blanket is in force and no one is talking so we can’t tell you who to look out for…

Fun, huh?

    24/680,

Just thinking this through. BITD, the police would give suspect descriptions so the public might assist in locating the suspect. In this day of cameras everywhere, including BART, the police have all the info they need or could possibly get from the public, hence the silence. Why have a citizen challenge an armed suspect? Of course I’m better trained then any current officer.

A fair point, Chief, but being cowards by nature we were thinking more of knowing who to run away FROM than approaching and wrassling to the ground (though we have done that).

We’ve actually prevented some potentially hazardous encounters with that information, but that was BITD when it was available.

As for “the police have all the info they need or could possibly get from the public” that’s true but we would counter it with: “…is the public getting all the information they need from the police?”

A cutting? How about attempted stabbing which resulted in an injury? No description? No video although this took place at BART? I thought all of this video surveillance was to help protect the public

Our understanding was that the victim was slashed, not stabbed, though you’re right in pointing out we don’t rightly know – though we asked.

No description from police, or BART, or those fancy video cameras that we know of and the dog wasn’t talking, soooo…

Or maybe it’s just covering up the stats to “reduce reported crimes”, wouldn’t put it past our local elected libs. How did 24/680 find out about it, not on the blocked out radio frequencies.

There has been some history of law enforcement working in concert with their towns/cities to ensure the key components of a town/city’s “beating heart” (ie good schools, home values, low crime) remain attractive to incoming taxpayers – who’ll pay the bills.

Our lensman reports learning of this incident through a combination of the News24/680 Flash Alert system and acquired instinct.

Clearance rates for all crimes are tanking nationwide, not just California and ‘lib’ cities. Maybe it’s time to invest more in AI and drone technology for crime solving/ deterrence. Computers can’t game overtime and disability.
