Homicide Investigation Underway After Concord Shooting Monday

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Monument Boulevard that left a 40-year-old man dead of a bullet wound to the head.

Police in the area of Monument Boulevard near Meadow Lane heard gunshots being fired at approximately 3 a.m. with neighbors also reporting hearing gunfire.

The victim was located lying on the ground near the intersection of Monument Boulevard and Reganti Drive and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police determined the gunshots had been fired from a vehicle that had fled the area.

One neighbor told News24/680 that he heard around five rapid gun shots around the reported time and arrived to find the parking lot taped off with a car being towed away, possibly with bullet holes in a window.
