A police welfare check at a home in the 5100 block of Laurel Drive in unincorporated Concord on Monday led to the discovery of a resident found deceased on the property, the Sheriff’s Office has announced.

Deputies reportedly made the discovery shortly after arriving at the property at 8:04 a.m.

The victim was subsequently identified as 38-year-old Antonio Valdez of Antioch.

Three other people in the residence were initially found suffering from unspecified injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One person remains in the hospital.

Detectives believe the incident began as a domestic issue when a family dispute escalated into an altercation. There are no outstanding suspects and no threat to the public.
