One person suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash through the Alamo roundabout in front of Alamo Plaza on Saturday.

The crash was reported at 5:53pm with witnesses reporting a Toyota Highlander rolling several times before coming to rest as shown.

The unidentified driver was briefly trapped in the car but was eventually extricated and taking to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Some witnesses said they believed a medical event may have preceded the crash.

  1. It is poorly designed with inadequate traffic paint markings and signage northbound in particular. It has a bio planter directly in the projection of the righthand traffic lane northbound. This is not the first accident at the site, I have seen another car driven into the bio planter.

    • It’s been an accident waiting to happen for a long time. Who ever thought this was a good idea???

  2. Whether “poorly designed” or not, it is a roundabout. Drivers are required to yield to traffic upon entering a roundabout, not enter at a high speed that can result in multiple barrel rolls. This was ABnormal behavior.

  3. Clearly driver induced but that roundabout is the wrong response in Alamo’s attempt to thwart traffic. It won’t be long until a cyclist pays the price of poor decisions.

  4. The roundabout was NEEDED, and was a better solution than a new traffic light that would have bogged down traffic. Hard to believe people don’t know how to drive through a roundabout. There were TEN different entries/exits to Danville Blvd between Stone Valley Road and Jackson Way, which was a traffic nightmare and dangerous.

  5. Can we just cut through the usual goat puckey and take a deep dive and solve this razzmatazz nightmare. Too many people crowded into too little space and all driving too many cars and causing too much traffic chaos necessitating the building of poorly designed or better than sliced bread traffic roundabouts? The way the housing market, car prices and the jumping bean stalk market, among other surreal happenings, is going, can we just take a Mulligan and ask certain groups to sell up and get out…like maybe all Scorpios born after 1980 on a Monday or use some other reasonable criteria. If we plan it right we won’t need roundabouts and our air will be fresh once more. Sigh, for some of us, it’s April 1 every day.

  6. It looked bad when we rolled by. Assumed from the plates they were local. Hope they’re okay and maybe learned something.

  7. maybe the 25 mph limit that virtually everyone exceeds entering or leaving the roundabout could be lowered to a safer speed.

  8. I have driven roundabouts all over the US, Italy, France, to name a few. All have nearly the same design. No one else seems to have the problems that we are having here. Don’t call it bad design, poor planning. I attribute it to excessive speed, arrogance and ignorance of the drivers. I see drivers DAILY driving down the blvd. speeding. Have you driven the freeways lately? Look at the morons zooming in and out of lanes, passing on the shoulders and excessive speed. And we wonder why there are so many accidents! Don’t tell me you haven’t experienced this unless you happen to be one of these idiots. Learn how to drive before you criticize the roundabout or it’s design.
