Two Arrested In Connection With Pleasant Hill Murder

Two Richmond men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Pleasant Hill resident Peter Popovich, 63, and the death by gunfire of San Pablo resident Trevon Davis, 21 – who died in an apparent shootout with Popovich during an aborted robbery attempt on March 19, 2024.

Pleasant Hill Police investigators obtained arrest warrants for Joe Washington, Jr., 18, and Money Green, 20, both of Richmond, and arrested the pair after locating them in Sacramento on April 18. Washington and Green were taken into custody without incident, according to police.

The arrests follow the March attempt to rob Popovich, a local graphic designer, in the parking lot outside his condominium on Twinbridge Circle in Pleasant Hill. Investigators reasoned Popovich, who had just dropped off sales collateral at a local cannabis business, was targeted by at least two men who confronted him in the parking lot outside his home – opening fire when their intended victim drew a weapon of his own, shooting and ultimately killing suspect Davis.

Both Popovich and Davis ultimately died of their wounds at the same local hospital. Neighbors reported at least one man fleeing the scene of the shooting by car.

Washington and Green were booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez.
Pleasant Hill Police investigators say they continue to speak with witnesses and gather evidence in the case.

  1. Would like to know the prison sentence after convictions. Newsom should not have overturned the popular vote for the death sentence. Good to hear they’re off the streets.
