UPDATE: (Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023)
Our attention was diverted elsewhere overnight but it appears someone returned to the Home Consignment Center in Danville, raided by thieves earlier this month, and smashed their front door. Nothing appears to have been taken but there is the replacement cost for their door.

ORIGINAL STORY
Burglary crews have been pretty aggressively targeting local homes and businesses up and down the 24/680 of late, with at least three tries overnight – one believed to be successful, the others damaging two local businesses and prompting a police pursuit.

Police have yet to confirm the suspected burglary of a home on Charbray Street in Danville on Tuesday evening, the burglars reportedly entering through a rear sliding door in what has come to be a trademark of several local break-ins.

It was not immediately known what, if anything, was taken. The incident was reported shortly after 8p.m.

Hours later, as residents slept through the wee hours of Wednesday morning, police responded to attempted break-ins at the Smoothleaf smoke shop on Alcosta Boulevard and – shortly after that – a similar attempt at the Blue Cave smoke shop on San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

Both businesses were battered but apparently not entered, police arriving in time to scare two carloads of suspected thieves in Infiniti G35-type coupes – also a trademark of local burglary crews – away from the business. The cars were last seen heading west on Highway 24 at high speed.

Both burglary attempts were reported at approximately 4 a.m.
