A brief police pursuit of a suspected carjacking vehicle taken in Oakland started on Bollinger Canyon in San Ramon Saturday, was discontinued due to speed but came to a fiery close at around 6:25 p.m. when the suspect vehicle – running without lights – crashed into four other vehicles near the Alcosta offramp, bursting into flames.

Two people suffered minor injuries in the crash, with the two occupants of the carjacked car fleeing into the nearby Gateway Shopping area, which was quickly sealed off by police.

One suspect, a 20 year old San Leandro resident, was found hiding in the restroom of a Subway location and was taken into custody at 6:45p.m. The Gateway Center was searched and drones were used to search the surrounding neighborhoods with thermal imaging. The second remains at large as of this writing.

The two people injured in the crash were taking to a local hospital for treatment.
