Early Saturday Shooting Under Investigation In Concord

SHARE

About 12:21 a.m. Saturday Morning, shots were reported in the 1500 block of Concord Ave at a Chili’s Restaurant, possibly connected to an attempted armed robbery in the area.

Witnesses reported hearing gunfire after an alleged road rage altercation on or near Highway 242 while others insisted the gunfire stemmed from a robbery attempt. One person was shot, hit in the arm, and others in a neighboring motel had bullet(s) awaken them as they ripped through the motel walls, according to bystanders.

The wounded person was rushed to Muir Trauma in Walnut Creek with a bullet wound to an extremity. The large scene is the Chilis Parking lot, and Premier INN adjacent in the 1500 block. Detectives interviewed a crowd of witnesses, determining that the suspected perpetrators were a heavy set Hispanic male dressed in black and a Hispanic female believed driving a maroon SUV. Shell casings and a weapon were recovered. We believe CPD is the lead agency.

There were reportedly bullet holes in rooms, according to witnesses, though this could not be independently confirmed.

Police said the lone victim was treated and released at an area hospital. No other injuries or victims were reported.
