Police in Lamorinda participated in the pursuit and eventual arrest of two women suspected of operating a carjacking vehicle taken in Oakland overnight.
Officers alerted that the car was on Highway 24 in Lafayette fell in behind the vehicle as it motored west Thursday afternoon, the driver accelerating and reaching speeds estimated at 110 mph once she realized police were behind her.
Police eventually caught up to the car at Hiller Drive and South Hill Court, taking one person into custody. Reports that a weapon was found nearby could not be immediately confirmed.
Officers began a search for a second woman who left the car and walked away from the scene, eventually locating her at Ashby Avenue and Piedmont – where she was taken into custody.
