Gunman Visits Lafayette BevMo Monday; Leaves With Cash Drawer

SHARE

An armed robber paid an unwanted visit to the Lafayette Beverages and More outlet, 3590 Mount Diablo Boulevard, a little after 10 a.m. Monday morning and left with the till.

No one was injured in the encounter, in which the armed robber apparently flashed a small pistol while demanding money.

The gunman, a black male, 5′ 8″ to 5′ 10″-inches tall with a thin build and wearing a full face covering, escaped on westbound Highway 24 in a silver Audi.

UPDATE: Information from Lafayette PD supplied to the city’s website reported that officers were able to access camera imagery of the suspect vehicle and license plate.

On Feb. 2, a Piedmont officer was alerted that the suspect’s vehicle was in the area by a license plate reader.  Piedmont officers quickly located the vehicle, and found it occupied by two individuals. The suspect from the armed robbery in Lafayette was identified as one of the individuals, and two firearms believed to be used in the robbery were recovered (it was later determined that they were replicas).

Police said the unidentified suspect was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, and the other passenger was arrested by Piedmont for unrelated crimes.

  1. Even if the license plate was caught on camera, he’s probably driving a stolen vehicle or using paper plates.

  2. You robbed a liquor store till at 10 AM? You know Danny Ocean robbed 3 casinos on a fight night! You might wanna consider $15 an hour. At least that has some future. It’s not much, but it doesn’t end with you bleeding on the floor.
