Martinez Police Recover Body Found In Alhambra Creek Monday

UPDATE: The deceased subject found in Alhambra Creek on Monday died of apparent overdose, a pathologist from the CCC Sheriff Coroner’s Office has determined. Visible injuries originally reported as suspicious were caused by wildlife post death, authorities have determined.

From Lt. Mike Estanol, Martinez PD:

On Monday at approximately 10:30 am, officers from the Martinez Police Department responded to the creek area behind the 900 block of Ferry Street.

The initial report was for a “man down” in the creek who was unresponsive with some visible injuries.  Officers assessed the male and determined he passed away prior to their arrival.  The subject is a white male in his 50’s and his identity is being withheld pending confirmation through the Contra Costa Sheriff/Coroner’s Office as well as notification to the next-of-kin.
