Seven-Year-Old Suffers Major Injuries In Martinez Hit-And-Run

As reported here this afternoon, a 7-year-old boy riding his scooter on Vine Avenue between Leslie and Merle avenues in Martinez was struck and seriously injured by a passing white van.

Police determined that the incident occurred between 3:48 and 3:56 p.m., with area surveillance cameras capturing a fleeting image of the vehicle as it traveled south on Vine, struck the child, and fled the scene.

The boy was airlifted by helicopter to Oakland Children’s Hospital and is being treated for major injuries. He was listed in stable condition.
