We Flashed our people in San Ramon when we heard of an apparent burglary and an ensuing footrace between police officer and would-be burglar – and wondered who the speedster might be.

San Ramon PD provided this photo on their Facebook page and, no, we don’t know if Officer Hamilton will be known as “Speedy” from here on out. We’d call him “Flash” – but that’s already taken.

So, let’s see, according to our Flash Log the foot race took place in the 2200 block of Canyon Village Circle at 10:35 a.m., with Hamilton following up on a reported apartment burglary in the area and giving chase when a man dropped out of a window and started running.

A later post by the department said the victim in this case reported she left her house for less than an hour and returned to find her front door had been kicked in.

Within a few minutes of being dispatched to the call, Officer Hamilton arrived at the location and saw the suspect climbing out of a window, according to SRPD. The suspect took off running and Hamilton gave chase. After a brief foot pursuit, Officer Hamilton caught the suspect, who was on parole. The suspect was arrested for residential burglary and booked at the county jail.
