Two men have been detained following a strong-arm robbery believed to have been targeting prescription drugs at the Safeway pharmacy on Contra Costa Boulevard Friday night.
Witnesses said two men entered the store shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, eventually vaulting a counter to the pharmacy and allegedly assaulting a worker. An ambulance was called to the scene to check on the employee though there was no word as to the nature of their injury, if any.
The two men fled the store but were detained by officers in the area of Gregory and Contra Costa Boulevard. It was not immediately known what type of drug the pair were believed to be seeking.
If they left empty-handed after committing assault, “Thieves” might be overstating their accomplishments.
