Police in Dublin announced the arrest of a transient wanted in connection with the burglary and sexual assault of a woman living in the 7900 block of Tamarack Drive Thursday night.

Investigators said they received a frantic call from the woman at around 11:50 p.m. Thursday, saying she’d been awakened by a man who’d entered her home and was touching her inappropriately.

Officers determined the suspect had entered the residence through an unlocked rear door, subsequently developing information that led them to a local transient, Jatonio Simmons, 24, who was located and arrested Friday in Mape Memorial Park.

Simmons was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and sexual assault and booked at Santa Rita Jail. The victim was not physically harmed during the incident.
