Neighbors savoring a little down-time in their local coffee shop ended up chasing after thieves who made off with a purse and a laptop in separate thefts in Walnut Creek and Lafayette Friday.

Police were looking for a Honda, possibly an Accord, with tinted windows and custom rims, in connection with the thefts. A young male, described only as in his teens and wearing a deployed hoodie, was believed to have made off with the property.

The first theft was reported at a Starbucks on N. Main and Treat Boulevard in Walnut Creek early Friday afternoon, with a second theft at a Starbucks outlet at 3343 Mt. Diablo Boulevard almost an hour later.

No one was believed to have been injured in either theft, though customers did give chase in at least one occurrence.
