Danville Police officers behind a car on Danville Boulevard early Thursday morning ended up pursuing the vehicle as the driver attempted to speed away, ultimately fleeing the vehicle on foot.
Officers searched near Del Amigo for a short time, and ultimately located and apprehended the suspect.
Danville Police Chief Allan Shields said his officers responded to the area of Danville Blvd and Camille Ave to assist a county deputy who was involved in a vehicle pursuit that was heading south on Danville Blvd toward the Town of Danville at about 2:30 a.m.
The suspect fled on foot in the 300 block of Del Amigo Drive. Danville officers, with the assistance of surrounding agencies, attempted to located the suspect, who was eventually located after he fled into a drainage ditch near Camino Encanto and Del Amigo Road. Danville officers turned over custody of the suspect and the vehicle he used to flee police to the Pleasant Hill Police Department.
The suspect, a man in his 40s, had allegedly broken into a former girlfriend’s residence in Pleasant Hill – making off with her car. Pleasant Hill police were on the man’s trail, police said, and their officers participated in the resulting neighborhood search for the suspect.
