Lafayette Police Release Photo Of Car Used In Suspected Burglary Attempt

SHARE

Lafayette police released a photo of a car they believe may have been used in a burglary attempt May 20, advising residents to call them if they see it in their neighborhoods.

Investigators said the car was captured on camera leaving the 3400 block of Goyak Drive after an occupant, described only as a “young man dressed in a t-shirt and camouflaged pants,” rang the doorbell of a home in the area asking for directions to the highway.

That ruse, described ad nauseam by this site as a common introductory tactic of burglars looking for a home to enter, did not work on the homeowner – who notified police after noting the young man walk back to the car, waiting at the curb, and drive off “contrary to directions she had just provided.”

An image of the car was obtained and a records check found that the owner of the car has a number of arrests for burglary, according to police.

So far, neither the car or its owner have been located, and police were advising residents to call them if they happen to see it in their neighborhood.

  1. Keeping in mind most burglars are never arrested, with a number of arrests for burglary, how many has he committed?

  2. Again, thank you to the alert homeowner who reported the suspicious activity to the police….and to the police in thier constant efforts. Darn, seems there are thousands of these Parolees and others wanted on warrants that are running all around the place.
I blame our California government officials, who so worry about overcrowding in jails, and the comfort of these thugs. Frankly, I’d rather have these people be uncomfortable in jail, than have them out making the rest of us suffer.
