Walnut Creek PD Search For Suspect After Attempted Homicide In Civic Park Monday

Walnut Creek police are investigating an early-morning assault that took place in Civic Park Monday.

In a press release, police said they received a 911 call at 5:36 a.m. from someone reporting that a man appeared to be injured, locating the victim in the gazebo at Civic Park. Officers arrived on scene and found the victim unconscious with a serious head injury.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District personnel responded and the victim was immediately transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Officers determined the victim was with another man earlier in the morning and that person is believed to be the responsible suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40’s, 5’01”-5’03” with thin gray hair, clean shaven and missing several teeth. 

The investigation is in its early stages and information is limited at this point. Based on preliminary information, investigators believe this is an isolated incident and do not believe there is an active threat to the community.

    People are losing their minds. There’s always been crime, but if this Covid lockdown doesn’t end soon. The abnormal lifestyle has gone on long enough.

    It’s funny, and very sad, but we’ve been noticing the same …. that people really are on edge lately! It’s as if the climax of something is coming soon… Ie, big earthquake, etc. The only respite- thank God- was church on Sunday where everyone was really mellow & happy.

    There seem to be more transients in the area lately. Some are no problem and are actually pretty nice – some are trouble. Sorry but there it is.
