We were so sad to see this. We don’t live in the area any longer but we played in the creek near the estate when were kids back in the Sixties (so long ago!).

The owners were pretty forgiving even though the gardeners (we think) were instructed to run us off when they could. I always wondered what it must have been like to live there as it was such a gorgeous setting.

Sorry to hear this happened but glad no one was hurt. Hopefully they can return the property to its former glory.

I was startled to see film of the estate I played on as a kid on fire and its house collapsing and immediately called some old friends who used to roam that area with me back in the day. Several piled onto your Facebook to re-connect with others from that era and several pleasant conversations ensued — tinged by mutual lamentations about the disaster. The memories really started to flow. We’re all hoping the new owners recover and are able to restore the property. It’s a very special place.

Lived near the Kaiser estate many years ago and remember playing in the walnut orchard where they ended up putting in houses. Our gang used to use the property as a shortcut, riding our bikes through before their security could come chase us off. We played in the creek behind the property, looking for frogs while keeping an eye out for guards. Seeing that the property is currently zoned R-20 it’s more than possible it will be replaced with a new subdivision. If that happens, it will break a lot of hearts and ruin more than a few memories of childhoods spent on those 7 acres. Good times.
