MAGA Farmers Reap What They Sowed; Are Blue Dot Farms The Answer?

Projections for the upcoming mid-term elections hint at a shift in political polarity I personally hope for but in the lead up to elections I want to address the recent increase in MAGA confessions we’re seeing on the Internet and what’s left of television.
In these testimonials teary-eyed farmers and ranchers who admit to voting THREE TIMES for the current administration blubber about current high costs and the prospect of losing farms some have tended for generations.
As a native Nebraskan, I’ll admit that this would have moved me in a pre-2016 life as there is farming in my blood but, knowing what I now know, I am left unmoved and only able to say: TOUGH, you made your bed and it’s yours to lie in.
These folks came out in favor of mass deportations, slapped MAGA hats on their cows and children and pranced around pointing fingers at the liberals they blamed for ruining “their” country.
Now, with no one to pick their crops, facing foreclosure and loss of their precious farms to corporations slavering over their land, they come looking for government handouts WE ARE EXPECTED TO SUBSIDIZE.
According to U.S. Department of Agriculture data cited by Nebraska Public Media, roughly 70% of farmworkers are foreign-born, and an estimated 40% are undocumented. Farmers who voted for mass deportations and expressed support for ICE raids and the wall only realized they had cut their own throats when workers failed to show up for harvest and crops were left rotting in their fields.
It turns out many Americans still have values and are looking to spend their money in a manner in line with those values – bypassing MAGA farmers and ranchers in favor of those producers more in line with their beliefs. This has created a community of blue dot farmers, food producers aligned with progressive, non-MAGA values. Consumers use a blue dot directory to vote with their dollars by buying food from farmers who support the democratic process and human rights.
Sites like Blue Dot Farms share lists of independent local producers who adhere to these principles and I would encourage anyone interested to search them out and support their businesses.

Well, it’s always been the tradition that the party in power looses in the midterm elections. It happen big time to Obama. It may happen now too. Some pundits saw no. But for a lot us, if not most of us, we are doing much better now than we were 4 years ago under Biden Harris.

They seem very loose now and have for the last 10 years. We’re hoping the country wakes up in time and they LOSE big in November. It would be nice to be moving in the right direction again.
If that was the case, then why didn’t Biden Harris lose big time in 2022?

Nowadays your average corn state/central valley “farmer” is more like a “Farm CEO”, and the farmworkers/farmhands actually do most of the work you’d associate with a “farmer”. So, the hypocrisy is no surprise, why wouldn’t a Farm CEO vote like any other small/big business owner?
