Police Shift Resources In Anticipation Of More Demonstrations Saturday

Police in the Bay Area moved to head off a repeat of yesterday’s protests and resultant rioting in Oakland and San Jose, mobilizing off-duty officers and sending them to areas likely to be the scene of any new demonstration.

Reader Kim Miller was on Highway 24 in Orinda Saturday when her car was passed by a column of police vehicles heading to Oakland. Kim said the officers got off the freeway at 12th Street, apparently to relieve or re-enforce officers already on duty there.

Meanwhile, in the 24/680, locals were buzzing about the possibility of demonstrations in their area, something mentioned in Social Media posts overnight.

While a group of about 50 protestors had apparently come together in the area of Ygnacio Valley Road and Civic Drive in Walnut Creek Saturday there have been no reports of violence of any kind.
