One Dead In Rossmoor Blaze

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District investigators have confirmed that one person is dead following a 2-Alarm blaze on Leisure Lane in Rossmoor Saturday night.

Fire Marshal Chris Bachman said the fire is currently being investigated by the Fire Investigation Unit.

Residents identified the dead man as Arthur Hertz, 101.

The blaze was first reported at approximately 6:20 p.m. with the first firefighters on the scene reportedly met by heavy fire and smoke from an upstairs unit. The fire was contained to the single unit, but it displaced three other families in the eight-plex building, according to fire officials.
