This site’s Flash Subscribers were notified of the latest in what has become a steady stream of circuitous police pursuits to blaze through – and then be brought to an end – along the 24/680 Corridor.

Monday’s exercise got underway at around 10:30 p.m. as a green Econoline van reported stolen in San Jose was located by its owner as it made its way north on I680, the van’s owner dialing up the California Highway Patrol to intercept the vehicle, if possible.

CHP officers from the Dublin Area office spotted the van traveling north through Danville and fell in behind it, the van’s driver fleeing north into Concord before turning around at Treat Boulevard and continuing to run in the southbound direction.

At some point one of the van’s tires blew but its operator continued to drive south until an officer deployed a spike strip, disabling the vehicle near Alcosta Boulevard. The driver, described only as a 21-year-old Santa Clara woman – fled on foot before slipping and falling alongside the freeway, where she was taken into custody on suspicion of evading, stolen vehicle and stolen property charges.

  1. It’s cool to watch cops throw out the spike strip on cop shows. Takes some real skill.

Although my man Kenda would have stopped the car with his mind. Joe Kenda is awesome! Best guy on TV.
